"This is most effective piece which creates a similar mood to much of the Latin American music for pan pipes. Over pp tremolos in the middle parts the alto [or 5th concert] flute plays an improvisatory phrase, answered by the first flute.There follows an eight bar chordal passage, leading to the main presto.This is mostly in 5/4, with repeated patterns in the lower three parts and singing melodies over the top. Although several of the parts are not that interesting in themselves, the overall effect is charming. It is also a good excercise in rhythmic precision, whilst not being very difficult."
